I did a trial of Rigly's pool mining today. It was 1000 sats for 3hrs of 120TH/s hash power using the Braiins pool. It was easy to sign up, pay the invoice, and begin hashing. I was able to monitor my workers the whole time with the hash rate fluctuating between 105TH/s and 120TH/s. I made 595 sats over my 3 hours.

As well as it all worked, I'm a little confused as to why I would pay for larger hash contracts given that my return on a 1000 sat investment was 595 sats. I'd effectively be paying to receive about 50% of the expense. That doesn't make sense to me. Am I missing something? #musings

I got a flat tire today while I was out running errands, and it reminded me of a thing that happened to me back when I was a kid with a new driver's license.

My friend and I were driving around for no good reason, as you do when you're a 16yo who just got the keys to freedom. We're traveling on a back road when one of my rear tires blew out.

Neither of us had much experience changing tires, but we understood the basics, and got out of the car to assess the situation and get the jack out the trunk. It was cold AF with a fresh layer of snow on the ground, and our hands immediately froze up as we gave the jack its first turn.

All of a sudden, this Land Rover pulls over and out pops Armand Assante! We all knew he lived somewhere near by, and he'd be seen at the store every now and then, but this was my first encounter.

So me and my friend are standing there with our mouths wide open holding this jack. He comes over, friendly as hell, and asks us what's going on. I told him we had a flat and were trying to change the tire but that our fingers kept freezing up and we weren't making much progress.

Armand takes the jack from me, and without skipping a beat he tells us to go sit in his car and get warm. We get in the car and we're freaking out, like holy shit! Armand Assante is changing our tire! It was such a strange experience we were just besides ourselves.

After about 10 minutes, he come to the car and says, "OK boys, you're good to go." We thanked him profusely for helping us, and went back to our car. Armand gave us a double-beep with his horn and continued on his way.

We're on our way back home, and I'm like, "My mom isn't going to believe this!" because he's one of her favorite actors and everytime a movie of his comes on she starts going on and on about how handsome he is, and how's so great in this or that.

We get to my house and I go running inside to tell my mom what happened. I'm like," MOM, YOU'RE NEVER GONNA BELIEVE IT! WE GOT A FLAT AND ARMAND ASSANTE STOPPED AND CHANGED OUR TIRE!"

Her eyes get real big, and she's like, "WHAAAAAAT?!?!" So, I tell her the whole story, leaving out no detail, and the first thing she's says is, "You didn't get dirt in his car did you?" And me and friend just broke into hysterics. At that moment, what my mother said was the funniest thing any human had ever said. We laughed for solid hour, and at some point my mom got mad because while she at first laughed along, she didn't really get what was so funny.

I just moved my ID and all my various cards into my new wallet. I feel like a new man! My old wallet, which I've had for about 5 years, was the size of a brick; the product of cards and papers accumulating over the years.

The new one is normal, and handsome. It's only got my essentials, having left all the old stuff in the old wallet. It'll sit in my nightstand until the end of time just in case I someday need one of the old cards, receipts, or other detritus. I'm feeling lighter. 🤗 #musings
